Is your coaching business searchable?
If it’s not, you’re harming your coaching business.
Get more potential clients to find you
People who are already searching in google are ideal potential coaching clients. If you aren’t appearing in their search results then you’re missing opportunities.
First off – optimise what you’ve got.
You should optimise your website and social media profiles so when we type your name and business into google we should be able to easily find you.
But to really make your business searchable, there are two main options: blog posts or YouTube videos
This kind of traffic to your site or YouTube channel is called “organic traffic” or “organic search”. Basically it’s evergreen content to reach potential clients who are already some way to taking action as they’re searching for solutions.
It’s a great way to future-proof your business, grow your reach and ultimately get more clients without constantly churning out new social media content.
Also known as “long-form content”, both written and video formats have their own unique advantages and disadvantages, so it’s important to choose the one that best fits your business’s goals, your target audience and your own preferences.
Solution 1: Blog posts
Blog posts allow for greater flexibility in terms of content and formatting, but require the ability to write in an easy-to-understand way.
These days AI can provide a helping hand.
Solution 2: YouTube videos
On the other hand, YouTube videos offer a more engaging and visual experience, but can require more resources and time to create.
Solution 3: Both a blog and a YouTube channel
The ideal situation would be to have YouTube videos embedded in search-optimised blog posts on your site.
The easier option is to make your YouTube video and share it with the AI-generated transcript on your site.
For an enhanced reader experience, you can repurpose main points from your video into blog post for those of us who prefer reading.
How to choose between a blog or a YouTube channel to grow your reach
While yes, it’s important to consider where your audience is searching… the truth is if you really, really hate writing, blogging might not be for you.
Many of us are naturally video-shy and getting on camera is scary, but becoming more comfortable with this is an asset to your business. Video can create a strong connection and help gain the trust you need to make a sale. It might be uncomfortable at first, but you’ll find it’s worth the effort.
So, take the time to carefully consider your options and choose a content strategy that works for you.
But wait…
That sounds like a lot of work.
But you don’t necessarily need dozens of posts or videos to get found. By being tactical, you can target keywords that your potential clients are already searching.
It’s about quality, not quantity.
Bonus: Repurpose your content for social media
You can repurpose your long-form content to share on social media. Just a handful of blog posts or a dozen well-created YouTube videos can provide you with up to six months of social media content.
Imagine that for a moment.
Putting in a bit of work upfront can save you time and streamline your content strategy in the long run.

Why me?
I’ve been blogging about language learning since 2013, including professionally as a freelancer in 2016-7. My blog has brought opportunities such as receiving an invitation to speak at the first online Women in Language summit. I can help you figure out what your potential clients are searching for and create a plan to help them find you.
Secondly, as a Virtual Assistant, I’ve been supporting YouTube strategist Gulce Onganer‘s group experience for over a year. She works with coaches who are ready to get found on YouTube.
My experience of both sides means I can see the pros and cons of both formats and help you choose what’s right for you.
